  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pineapple in juice, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce or dark miso paste (optional)
  • one pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water


1. In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and sugar until well combined.

2. Transfer to a large saucepan and stir in soy sauce if using.

3. Add water and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer for 2 minutes or until thickened. Cool before using
